Oscar, the indoor tree frog

Inside the staff lounge at the Reunion last night, we found a tree frog climbing up one of the chairs. His little hands felt like the sticky rubber ‘hands’ that you get for a quarter from vending machines.

I named him Oscar.

Pizza for the Masses

We made it to Kentucky, finally! . . . And, along with the 40 others who showed up early to help get ready for the Reunion, we were hungry.

Aided only with a professional grade oven and a butcher knife, Camille baked 16 frozen pizzas. Thanks Mil!

Somewhere in Saint Louis

…we passed a 15-passenger van full of what had to be homeschoolers. We, on our way to Kentucky for the Homeschool ALUMNI 2008 Reunion, just had to try and communicate with them. After several minutes of highly skilled traffic maneuvering, we managed to get a “Hi” sign to the van, which was excitedly reciprocated with waves and smiles. Our next sign (which Mac & Anne proudly display) said simply: “Homeschooled?”

We never got to give them that one. They were lost to the throes of traffic and for all we know lost somewhere in Illinois.

If you’re out there 15-passenger van, we miss you.

My mom hung a wreath by the front door to the family home.. and this little culprit made it into her family home too! It’s been totally freaking us out every time we exit because it jets off so quickly right beside us! Although, after investigating today and realizing that there were two newly hatched birdies and several more eggs, I’m feeling pretty lucky that we haven’t been attacked yet.

A Nikon D80 Story

I’ve been pretty discouraged in the upkeep of the blog lately. Mostly because my little point and shoot camera, while it has been totally awesome for traveling and such, just didn’t have the photo quality to really inspire my creativity.

But, I was trying to stay with it and keep on taking photos in hopes of upgrading to something bigger and better when money came along. Well, these last few days here at the lake I just became inspired to start learning how to use a pro camera. I snatched up Bradi’s camera and started playing around with it.. that lasted about 2 minutes until I realized I had no idea what I was doing. So the last two days Anne’s been teaching me how and when to adjust the settings and I’ve been having so much fun practicing getting different shots and such. I even thought at the time it was a little silly, because I’m about to go back to Oklahoma where I won’t have access to such a camera and would likely just forget it all.

So, I could hardly believe my own little moist eyes when my brothers came dancing up the stairs today with Andrew close behind them carrying a sweet new case with a brand new Nikon D80. They’d been planning this for weeks and I had no idea!! It’s a late wedding gift from Andrew and Riley.
